Relation between geomorphology and paleoclimate change of the Guiana shield

My postdoc project is about understanding the relationship between the weathering periods and the geomorphological evolution of the Guiana Shield through the Cenozoic. For this purpose, I will perform hematite and goethite (U-Th-Sm)/He dating on lateritic duricrusts which are remaining on paleo-surfaces at different altitudes. The geographic repartition of those ages will be compared to the identified paleo markers obtained after GIS treatment in order to understand which chronological relationship exists between geomorphology and major weathering periods. In addition, I will also apply the (U-Th)/He-Ne on iron oxides to better constrain the possible range of dating on iron oxide minerals.
